Essential oils throat spray

Natural Throat Spray

My good friend and natural-remedy-partner-in-crime Kelly mixed a nice throat spray that I tried when she visited last month. Jim and I have many sensitivities and try to stay chemical-free in this house, so making our own (portable) germ defense was a great solution for anytime we’re around someone hacking (or feeling something coming on). Here’s the recipe I found:

  • Add 1 TBSP of vodka to a small (2 oz) amber glass spray bottle (do not use plastic, as the ingredients in the oils can eat away at it). Vodka is necessary since essential oils are not water soluble.
  • Add 10-12 drops of Young Living Thieves blend, 5-6 drops of Lemon oil, and 5-6 drops of peppermint oil. If you don’t have lemon or peppermint, just Thieves is fine and potent enough for those germs.
  • Fill to top with filtered or distilled water. Cap and label. Easy to make and pleasant taste, too!

If you don’t have the oils you need, send me a message–I can get them for you.
