The Movie Project

Week 18: Louisiana (The Big Easy)

Category: Drama/Crime

Quote of Interest:

“They ripped the heart right out of his chest!”

“Why would they do a thing like that?”

“Voodoo.”

–Police detective/Anne Osborne

Three words to describe this film/state: Dumb as hell

Best ‘Extras’:

  • Magnet Salesman, played by Peter Gabb
  • Scrubboardist in Tipitina’s Restaurant, played by Earl Sally

State food/recipe to try: Chicken Jambalaya

Earring Inspo Character: Mama (Grace Zabriskie)

Other Notes: The Big Cheesy, am I right? I’m not sure which movie was worse, this or Point Break. It’s a close one. I lost count of how many different accents were going on. Quaid’s guy-liner was ugh, and Barkin’s district attorney was just another silly woman who couldn’t stay away from the idiot, despite her important job. The best part of this film was Grace Zabriskie, who took her role seriously and her accent and crazy eyes to another level.

Grade: D-
