The Movie Project

Week 28: Nevada (Desert Hearts)

Category: Drama/Romance

Quote of Interest:

“Lettin’ her come here with her books and her influence over my family!”

–frances

Three words to describe this film/state: Desert flower blooming

Best ‘Extras’:

  • Drunk Gambler, played by Ron Fisher
  • Change Girl, played by Patricia Frazier
  • Jerry (uncredited), played by Jeffrey Tambor

State food/recipe to try: Ichthyosaur IPA

Earring Inspo Character: Cay Rivvers

Other Notes: A movie ahead of its time. Anachronistic wardrobe all over the place (that satin cowgirl getup, though!). Fun to hear the ‘If you’re fond of sand dunes’ song that Groove Armada later redid. A little story, a lot entertainment. The main character’s affected accent was something between Downton Abbey’s Lady Grantham and Daria Morgendorffer’s sister’s friend Sandi. Care for a Chiclet?

Grade: C+
